MysteryVibe Crescendo - the world's most advanced vibrator

MysteryVibe / MysteryVibe

With many couples seemingly preferring smartphone activity over sexual activity in the bedroom, British luxury vibrator brand MysteryVibe sought to get sex back on the agenda.

Objectives

To design, manufacture and sell the 'world's first body adapting 6-motor smart vibrator’, designed to stimulate men and women.

Strategy and execution

MysteryVibe pithily chose to position the Crescendo as not just a sex accessory, but as a smart toy, body massager, sex education aid, smartphone accessory and wearable, putting it in a class above rival vibrators. The company also created a MysteryApp for Android and iOS that allowed users to select different sets (or playlists) of vibration.

Launched in 2014, MysteryVibe opted to use digital marketing, curated content, social including YouTube videos, PR and celebrity endorsement to promote the Crescendo.

Results

The Crescendo became the first 'pleasure' product on Amazon Launchpad, Virgin featured the company as a showcase for its VOOM2016 Export Awards and it won 'Best Hardware Startup' at the Europas.

The Crescendo sold 3,000 units in the three months following its retail launch and is now sold in 55 countries, via consumer electronic stores, pharmacies and online.
